Help- ebay account limited access

Hi All

I recently sold some concert tickets through ebay, the concert is not until July and I stated in the listing I may not have the tickets until 7 days before but would send them guaranteed next day delivery.

Buyer paid and paypal began a payment review which took 24 hrs, the payment cleared but then they locked my account until I could provide a tracking number for the delivery. I emailed them and explained above stating I was happy for the funds to remain 'pending' until after I posted them. I recieved an email stating I had breeched the pre-selling rules and the only way to restore account access was to refund the buyer. I did this and my paypal account was restored. Yipeee!!

The problem I now have is my ebay coount still has limited access (I cant list anything) I have rung paypal who say its nothing to do with them email ebay, which I have done 5 times now all they do, despite my request not to, is forward the email to paypal who say its nothing to do with them and to contact ebay. You get the idea, round a circle we go.

Sorry for the long rant but I need to know if anyone has had a similar problem? How to resolve it? Is there a phone number to call ebay?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, it's not the response you want but since the buyer probably won't receive the tickets until 45 days after the transaction, were anything to go wrong they wouldn't have any recourse through ebay/paypal, hence the pre-selling rules that are there. It's best not to list tickets until you have them sat in front of you. I don't think there's anything you can do until you've sent them out and can provide ebay/paypal with a tracking number. One to chalk up to experience I suppose.

Thanks for your response. Although I think you have the wrong end of the stick. I have refunded the buyer, the transaction has been cancelled and my paypal account has been restored. The only problem is I still have limited access to my ebay account, when I log in to ebay it advises me to log into paypal and go to the resolution centre, I've done this sereval times but as the issue is now closed in paypal's eyes the page is blank.

    Please help

My apologies, I misread your post. In that case, have you tried talking to someone at ebay via Live Help? Try this link - https://cschatlb-na.corp.ebay.com/chat.asp?profile=15

If it's not the right department they will put you through.

Though the transaction isn't showing in paypal, they will have records of it. Explain what you did, have your item number ready and ask if they can lift the limit, they may be able to.

If not, then you need to speak to paypal; call this number - 08707 307 191, the geographical equivilent is Ireland so expensive to call. You will need to login to paypoo and click on 'contact us' and put in an imaginary question like 'blah blah', it then gives you a number and a pin to use within an hour to get through to an agent. Again, explain what's happened and see if they can help. They may take ages, pass you between departments etc but stay calm and polite and it will get you somewhere.

Everyone knows that tickets go on sale months before the concert date, and most (and i'm assuming this includes ebay and paypal) know they only arrive days before the event, therefore if ebay don't like tickets being sold on a Pre-sale basis, why not just disallow ticket sales on their site?

Yes you could wait until you get them in your hand, but i was at the oasis concert in Manchester last night and my tickets only arrived 48 hours in advance, so it would have been a tight timeframe had i wanted to list and sell them.

I seem to remember hearing a couple of years back about 2 take that tickets selling for £10,000 the day they went on sale, i don't remember hearing about ebay forcing them to cancel the sale despite them obviously not yet having the tickets.....probably didn't want to give back the fees...

I agree it seems funny how certain people have no problem selling tickets (not just the odd ones either) but I end up having to refund the buyer, who thankfully was understanding and agreed to cancel the sale so I got the final valuation fee back but still have to stump up for the listing fees.

Thanks for the livechat link MsCrow I've contacted them and they've escalated my call so should hear in 24-48 hrs. Will keep you posted.

Quick update, this is STILL on going!! I have emailed ebay about 50 times, get referred onto the correct team, I then hear nothing!! I have twice received a survey request on replies (from the same woman) which I have never received, my account is still blocked, I can buy but can not list. Paypal can do nothing, I'm getting seriously peev'd, I've tried live help but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

you have not been suspended by ebay so why not just register a new account if you want to sell and maybe not sell tickets again.
  • Yep two month on and ebay are use nor ornament!!! I have contact them on serveral occasions only to be told to email them, which i have done more times than I care to remember, only to be forwarded to paypal, who can't help and refer me back to ebay. Isn't it wonderful to be valued so highly as a customer!
