Devotee - was that £150 supply and fit ? If so can i please have the details of where you got this quote from please as i think this is very reasonable.:rotfl:

Hi, don't know where you are, but this company was Vale Glass in London, they supply and fit themselves. My friend has hers fitter from them as well, they came and took the measurements and fitted the glass a few days later. I have to wait until my kitchen is fitted :(
    Give them a call 020 8740 4098.

ok kind of off topic...could you not either paint the wall behind or even wallpaper then have the glass mounted over the top..is this an option? i have always thought this way it can be changed if you should get bored..like i do!!
I would go with the glass over tiles btw!! me and dd love the B&Q pink one but dh not keen!!

Edinburghlass - I like the way you are going about getting a kitchen; a bit from here, a bit from there. I'm doing the same! (glad to know I'm not alone!) I'm still a way off from ordering the actual units etc, but I'm forever on the lookout for good deals for the rest of the things, and boy are there a lot. Whoever said planning a new kitchen was easy? Surprisingly, well maybe not in these tough times, there are plenty of bargains out there. It's just a matter of being patient and looking.

kitchens do require a degree of cleaning/maintainance whatever materials they are made of. I'm beginning think glass is one of the easier ones to clean.

There should be a kitchen forum all to itself ;)

Todays bargain from B&Q was a black and white roller blind reduced to £15 for the widest available, which is too wide but can be cut down, and as they have a 90 day return policy I have plenty of time to see if it will suit the kitchen once its installed. Following that a black glass vase from Tesco at 50p :j

Gone for the black and white floral glass splashback (for behind the hob only) from B&Q, delivery date is 16 July but I can cope with that, 15% off B&Q online and in store for 4 days if you spend more than £50 and ordered via Quidco and got £4.30 cashback so I'm pleased with that.

I checked a local glass supplier but they only do coloured glass but will cut socket gaps etc and were very helpful and had I been going for a plain colour I probably would have gone with them, not least for a quicker delivery date.

    Hi

We are in the process of getting a quote for some building work to knock through our kitchen and dining room. I am looking ar replacing the kitchen and am quite taken by the toughened coloured glass you can have as splashbacks. I just wondered if anyone has them and what they thought of them and how they compare to standard tiling. I don't mind tiles but the glass looks much easier to just wipe clean (no more stained grouting).

Any ideas on cost versus tiling. Are they much more expensive and are they tricky to fit?

Probably going to make decisions on flooring and worktops too so may be back for more advice. We don't have a massive budget but want to do it well, keep being told to spend the money on worktops, sink and taps and not the cupboards!

    thanks for any advice

Have you considered Art Glass splashbacks ?

They are easy to install "self setting silicon - does not need air" which is supplied with the design.

Individual and easy to clean - no dirty grouting. worth a look some sites like - glass-lighting.co.uk

Hope this helps with the debate
