Quick question, have old pc(Tiny bought 2001) with photos galore stored in it. Have upgraded to new laptop, but been trying to copy photos onto memory stick and transfer, to no avail. Old pc used kodak to view photographs if thats any clue and can I get some sort of networking cable for faster data transfer?

You can buy an ethernet crossover cable (as long as your old PC has ethernet port of course).
Why can't you transfer by using USB memory stick? No free lunch, and no free laptop

It does have an ethernet point and I have an ethernet cable, just plug that into laptop then?

If you cant transfer using a mem stick, then using a network cable wont solve your problems.
You need to work out what file format these images are in. I would hope they are jpgs, the most popular file format on the planet. It may be that this kodak program is saving the files in a different format or in a strange location. You need to find the location of the files and copy them. It doesnt matter if this is via usb stick, network cable, or burnt to CD.Don't pay off your student loan quicker than you have to.0 -

No, for PC direct to laptop networking you need a crossover cable, not a patch cable. No free lunch, and no free laptop
