Once went to see REM on a very very hot day at Milton Keynes Bowl and someone was selling chuncks of water melon for £1. They were making a fortune and each water melon probably made over 6 slices and the probably only bought them for less than £1 each.

They had them in the back of a pick up truck and one small table. There were about four lads chopping them up and massive queues of people trying to buy them.

Need a really hot day though and a captive audience!

I think it was probably more that they were so cheap. Food at concerts is normally very expesnive and what you got for your money was great, so everyone won.
