Quick count 89 cook books and use about 5/6 recipes regularly.

Just done a very quick count up of my cookery books (there's more, they're hidden everywhere :o) and I have 89 cookery books and honestly I must use only very few recipes.

Jamie's Oliver's lasagne

Nigellas creamy potatoes are the two that spring to mind.......gawd I have a problem on compulsive cookery book collecting.:eek::eek:

WOW!!! why dont you have a look through & cook something new once a week/fortnight etc. Or even sell the ones you dont use on Amazon, unless you love your cook books, & then you should just keep them to stroke, lol.

I always said with OH and I moved in together I would try one new receipe a week. Nearly 20months on - have I done it?
Yes, a few times, but more like once every few months! :rotfl: Would be nice to have the time though!

Why not get yourself a nice journal/book/binder, go through the books and write out (or photocopy) the recipes you like or are realistically likely to have a go at, and then pass the books on for someone else to get pleasure from

amazon, green metrpolis, freecycle, e-bay ... whatever appeals to you

Just keep maybe half a dozen of your favourites so you don't feel deprived !!

:rotfl::rotfl: Mmmm hadn't thought of that, but I do have to get rid, its ridiculous really, I could never use them all effectively.

  • I have just counted 67 books but have some in the drawers under the bed too:o and 2 coming from Amazon this week:o:o:o.

I was sick of not using half of mine too so I got a big notebook and wrote the title of each book and made a note of which recipes I fancy in them...then when doing my mealplans I look in this book for inspiration rather than hunt through each book.....it has worked and I make new recipes more often now.
Cookery books are my drug though:rolleyes::o

Oh my goodness, and my OH thinks I'm bad for the 20 or so I have!! And I don't care if I never use them, I would definitely keep them just to stroke them!! Would love to buy more more more...

I went through a thing of doing new recipes all the time, and now I've forgotten the good ones!! Will definitely go through and make note when the next spurge hits me!!
    I love surprises!

I have more, this was a quick look at the bookcases.:o

When I moved years ago I gave away 6 huge boxes of books to charity shops, mainly cookery books.

I did also have all of Robert Carriers full series of cookery booklets, there were hundreds of them:D....but I managed to let them go to a charity shop a while ago.;)
