Selling and buying...

Hi all,
We've just today accepted an offer on our flat and had an offer accepted on a house we like - having had our flat on the market for 6 weeks with nothing much happening, it's suddenly all go and as we're first time sellers I want to check we're covering off everything we need to do... (and the process of being FTBs was so scary that I can't really remember much!)

- we need to appoint a solicitor, presume it's usual to use the same one for sale and purchase. We've got a couple of quotes from local firms and they all come in around the same price. I'm minded to appoint the one that was most helpful and accessible on the phone when I called round for quotes

- we need to get our mortgage application in, we're staying with the same lender (combination of the way they work out the lending limits and actually amongst best value) and they've already OK'd our figures so we just need to fill in the actual forms

- decide on the level of survey and tell mortgage lender? We bought a purpose-built modern flat last time, so only had the basic lenders report. This time we're buying a much older property, and we put in an offer subject to survey, the vendor has said that they're aware it's an older property and that the survey may throw up some actions so they're prepared to be flexible on price; this rings warning bells to me and suggests we get the best survey we can?

Anything else at this early stage?

    its been a while since i last sold/purchased but as far as i can remember you have done everything u need to do at this stage
