Does it have to be magazines? What about the kind of comps you get on the back of cereal boxes or boxes of teabags? Does this not count as free? I wouldn't buy anything to enter a comp that I wouldn't actually use. I'd like to know about these comps: it's no hardship to, say, switch my brand of breakfast cereal for a week.

I just missed one for PG Tips: i bought the teabags, got all excited at the thought of winning two 10 year tickets to Wembley - then noticed the closing date. Tarnation!

British Gas bonds. Someone posted this on the freebie section here. Might be worth doing if you're not a customer.

No gas, electricity or other purchase necessary. To become a Bond holder and get the same chance of winning, please send your name, address, postcode, daytime telephone number and email address on a piece of paper to British Gas Bonds Prize Draw, PO Box 907, Uxbridge, UB8 9FP. This will entitle entrants to one Bond per application, up to the maximum. All Entries received 2 weeks prior to the draw will be included in that draw and any subsequent draws that may be held. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt and British Gas accepts no liability for entries lost or damaged in the post. British Gas will not acknowledge receipt of entries.

There is a maximum of 2 bonds per address. Bonds are not transferable.

Take a look at the prizes here.

Strepsy, thank you for your post on Ocado and entering without ordering over £100 of groceries. I'm a single person, and I get constant emails from them along these lines - they don't want someone who spends £40-£50 to win this! So this is great, thanks again.

You're very welcome Karmacat, don't waste a stamp on it now though, it's closed. I know exactly what you mean about all the hassle, they're always expecting you to spend loads. I did get a 30p coupon off juice cartons the other day though. lol.

    Hi,
I have been doing magazine competitions for about 15 years, have won a couple of prizes but only recently! I read one of your earlier posts about competition clubs, where would I find these?? Also, any advice you could give about maximising my chances would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, I am new to this site so I do not know how to PM (postmark??).
    Thanks
