I've now bought the Refurb 8GB model for £129 (and 4% Quidco, should bring in down to about £125)

    So thanks for everyones help.

    Final couple of question:

The iTrip FM Transmitters for normal iPods compatible with the iPod touch? If so any recommendations on brands or deals?

I see alot of third party devices with iPod docks on them. Are these universal, fitting the Touch as well and classics and Nanos?

    10) Ipod only supports mp4 movie file types, so if you have avi's or mpegs you will need to convert them before the ipod recognises them.

Conversion will require 3rd party software as iTunes doesn't do this (somebody correct me if I'm wrong on that bit)

Personally not a huge iPod fan, I prefer Archos or Creative.

Yes, anything with the ipod dock port on it will work with the touch. Some older devices may not charge the 2G touch however

if you got the 2nd gen touch (the one with inbuilt speakers and an external volume button), make sure the dock is compatible as apple changed the charging port pins slightly on the 2nd gen touch

I've ordered the current Gen and I'm looking at one of these:

One of the comments seems to indicate successful use with a Touch, doesn't mention which gen though.

It all depends on what you need in a player dreamypuma. If you buy it though you probably wont be dissapointed. Its a great little gadget and beats most of the other players hands down. The DRM is the obvious let down but there are easy ways round it. I use a program called SharePod. And Tanglefoot is right about not needing to use Itunes. I use songbird, its still not perfect but has great features that you can get nowhere else. The biggest selling point for any apple device at the moment though is all the docks available, It just makes life easier.

I've heard that the next firmware update to the Touch (v3.0) may bring internal FM and Bluetooth.

Bluetooth yes, but I doubt fm will be included, why kill the fm transmitter market and the battery life

I heartily recommend the INCHARGE FM transmitter. Slightly more expensive than the others, but unlike all the others, this one seems to be complaint free. I've certainly had no issues with it. It charges the iPod whilst transmitting, which is also nice.

If it's a receiver, it won't. And unless the Touch already includes the hardware in question, a firmware update won't do much anyway.
