just bought a LPG VAN transit connect, NEED ADVICE!
Really need some advice and help please. Ive bought a van which runs on LPG/petrol from Blackbushe auction today. Just come home and have got it insured. Will be picking it up later on tonight. Need some help and advice before that. It's very low on petrol, the indicator is under red and the nearest petrol station is around 5 miles away i think (the bca auction centre is located in an airport car park) Ive filled up a petrol can and will take that with me. What about the gas part? Ive never had experience with an LPG system and was wondering how to fill it up, how to check whether their is already enough in there? How does it all work? Do I need to switch between the two or is it all automatic?
Please, any help and advice would be greatly welcome from any experts out there, especially anyone who owns a similar vehicle.
I was also wondering on the fuel economy ie how many miles will a tenner do?
Thanks very much in advance.

The nearest petrol station from BCA Blackbushe is about 4.5 miles - just turn left at the roundabout and drive towards Camberley. Go over the first roundabout and the garage is just after the second roundabout. The nearest LPG is at Fleet Services on the M3, or alternatively come out of Blackbushe, turn left towards Camberley, then right at the next roundabout, the 50 yards and left at the next roundabout towards the M3. Cross over the two M3 roundabouts down to the next roundabout and turn right (second exit) a few hundred yards on the left is a petrol station that has LPG - probably around 5 miles in total from Blackbushe.
Whether the Transit switches automatically to gas will depend on the conversion kit used. Typically an LPG vehicle starts on petrol then you switch manually to gas after a minute or so - once the engine has warmed slightly. Telling how much gas you have will again depend on the kit. My Discovery had a row of LEDs alongside the switch showing how much was left. Filling up with LPG is a doddle. Just snap on the connector then press and hold the fill button on the pump, which will stop automatically when full. Don't worry if a bit of gas escapes as you unhook the pump. "They all do that sir".
You don't say where you live, but if it is in the Midlands or the West Country then check out Countrywide Farmers who have a network of LPG stations. I used to have an electronic key which allowed me to fill up anywhere then I would receive a bill at the end of the month for substantially less than the commercial rate in garages.0
