ryanair trouble

Folks, i'm having some real trouble with Ryanair and am having no luck whatsoever when trying to contact them, therefore, i'm looking for a wee bit of advice if anyone would be so kind as to offer...
this is a paste from the letter we've sent to them twice and pretty much sums up the whole bloody fiasco. Could someone tell me whereselse to turn? this is really starting to stress us out, my boyfriend paid for these flights on his switch card, and as a full time student he really cant afford to be stung like this! bad enough that they now charge £20 for a debit card transaction!!! but they are just doing NOTHING.
thanks.
On 24th May I attempted to book flights for myself and my partner with Ryanair, flying from Edinburgh to Rome on 21st August 2009 and returning on 24th August 2009. The flights were priced at £45.99 for each flight to Rome and £5.49 for the return flight. I input all my details and clicked to confirm the booking only to be given an ‘error’ message and the option to ‘start again’ or ‘go back’, meaning there was no confirmation of this booking. I clicked to ‘go back’ and was told the session had ‘timed out’. I was forced to start the process again, only to see that the price for the returning flights had increased from £5.49 to £45.99 per flight. As me and my partner are on a very tight budget the new price was no longer within our price range, I proceeded to book flights for the same journey on the 24th August 2009 returning on the 28th August 2009, as these flights were still priced at £5.49 for each flight each way. On this occasion when I got to the payment screen I was given a message saying the page was locked and if not redirected within 10 seconds I should click the ‘click here’ button. Despite clicking this button numerous times I was not redirected, again meaning there was no confirmation of my booking.
As you can imagine, it came as a surprise to me that I had later received two emails from Ryanair, one confirming my booking for the flights on the first dates and the second confirming my booking for the flights at a later date which I had only booked as the first flights had not been confirmed due to an error with Ryanair’s booking system. The reference numbers I was given were xxxxxx for the flights on the 21st August returning on the 24th August and xxxxxx for the flights on 24th August returning 28th August.
I contacted your contact centre this morning (25/05/2009) at 8am, and was told by the call handler that I “shouldn’t have booked two flights if I didn’t want to travel twice”. I advised him that I most certainly would not have done this deliberately and anyone could clearly see that this was not done by on purpose, particularly as it would be impossible for me and my partner to use both sets of flights as the first returning flight arrives at Edinburgh after the second outgoing flight leaves! As I’m sure you appreciate, this is something I am looking to be rectified as soon as possible.

In terms of rights, I don't think you have a great deal because I bet that Ryanair's T&C's for cancellation are tightly wrapped up. I suspect that you were too quick on the keyboard, whereas you could've perhaps waited 24h or contacted them by phone first to confirm the status of the first booking.
Personally, if it were me, then given the website had thrown a wobbly, I would have either contacted them or given them 24h to see if the problem has been corrected before ploughing in again.
Approximately how long after the failed attempts did the confirmation emails arrive? The point I'm trying to establish is whether the confirmation email for the first flight booking was received to your email account before you made the second booking? If there is evidence to the latter, then I'd say you were goosed!0 -
This sort of thing annoys me. Ryanair's carpy website leads to a problem and they do nothing to help.
Keep pushing them. Also, raise a dispute with your card issuer - clearly you didn't authorise payment for the first flights as you didn't actually think they had been booked.0 -

The crux of the argument will be whether the OP did authorise payment - he's provided card details twice!0 -

Something similar happened to me last year. I phoned Ryanair Head Office. You can find numbers on Saynoto0870 and if you use 18866/18185 or similar the call will cost pence instead of the £1 a minute Ryanair Helpline. They gave me a fax number (this number is no longer in service) for customer services and I faxed a letter. I had no reply so refaxed after a couple of days. I got an e-mail a couple of days later telling me to ring them. They then refunded the second booking.
Before getting the refund I spoke to my credit card company and they told me to ring them back if I couldn't get a refund and they would try to help so if you booked by cc that might be an option.
You'll probably have to wait until Monday to get to Head Office.
Good luck and have a great holiday.
PS . This is my first post so I'm no expert but I think you might be better posting this on the Flights, Currency & Car Hire Board
Edit - Just noticed you tried the debit card route.0 -

Write to Gill at the Telegraph, this is a fairly common problem with Travel Companies and she has sorted out quite a few recently (Not sure if any of them were Ryan Air).
