Was the account open as of 27th July 2001? Please do not specify when it was closed for now. The main thing is that the account was open at that time.

TrishUK, the FSA wrote to all firms on March 19th 2009 reminding them of their obligations under the FSA Waiver point 13.5 which states
"(5)
the firm must continue to maintain and preserve personal current account and other records concerning customers that incur or may have incurred unauthorised overdraft charges (whether or not they have complained) that are (or could be) relevant for the handling of existing or future relevant charges complaints by the firm, the Ombudsman, the court or otherwise; these records must be maintained and preserved in a way which ensures that they are as easily and readily available for the period until this condition terminates as they were when the 2007 direction started;"
SO time to write to HSBC and ask them whether they have received the correspondence and that they are currently going against the FSA Waiver on Bank Charges.0 -

You're starting to become a campaigner as well as a claimant on bank charges. When we get the info, we will most certainly have opened doors for other people.
Keep the pressure on them

Thanks for this Trish and natweststaffmember. The FSA has told me the same and says it will investigate any breaches. Can i send them a link to this thread Trish or maybe your full details - name, a/c no type of thing. If this is ok please send me a PM.
Anyone else that has been unable to get records from their bank between 27 July 2001 and 6 years ago (eg 17 June 2003), please also post or pm and i will let the FSA know.*** Get the Martin's Money Tips Free E-mail at www.moneysavingexpert.com/tips ***0
