Hi Guys,
I took out 2 loans with GE Money in 2004
Paid both off in June 2005.
Total PPI's was £2,777 & £1000.
Didnt actually need it but was told that it would get me a better interest rate and that It would help with my application.
There was some rebate but I never received a letter informing me of how much. From what I can gather it was about 20%
So I reckon I paid about £3000 for PPI that I never needed.
I wrote to GE but they replied saying they weren't part of the regulation until jan 05 which I have found to be correct.
I then contacted the FOS but they wouldnt help because of the same reason.
It just seems amazing to me that a company can get away with this because the loan was before any regulations even though they are still trading and even though I never [paid the PPI off until June 05 after the regulation began.
If anyone has any ideas as to how I can get my money back, I would be very grateful.

Sorry, I think I may have got things a bit mixed up.
MY original loans where with igroup, which I believe is now GE Money?
But would the PPI be with the boker who was Ocean Finance or the lender who was igroup?
I may have been going for GE Money when it should have been one of the other.
I even have a letter from GE saying it was Alabaster ltd who did the PPI0 -

Hi Mike
Just wanted to say that I was told them same by Black Horse, that the FOS would not look at my complaint, but I rang them this afternoon and they told me that they are now looking at ALL complaints.
So give it a try.

Just phoned FOS myself.
They stated that there is some issue with who where regulated when, but looks like Ocean where before my loan, but to send it anyway just in case?0 -
