Asda - misleading advertising?

Right here goes, a few times I've noticed on some product lines especially in the beers, wines & spirits department they've had offer ends 31/12/09. Now I was just about to buy some more beer which I knew had this offer ends 31/12/09 on it only to notice that the offer had been withdrawn. Surely this is misleading advertising, how can Asda get away with it? I noticed a few other lines have this offer ends 31/12/09 I bet they do the same with them! Surely this is against the law

There'll be something in the terms and conditions about stock and how long it lasts I believe.0

Which law exactly? If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

They can withdraw any offers at any time they wish. I don't see the problem.0

Agree with sarahg1969 and the dates on the labels are incase they forget to take it down and one day after they finished the offer someone notices the one label that was left up and have to honour as it's not dated.0

I understand that however why can't they put a realistic time period for their offers? They've lulled me in to a false sense of security thinking this offer is a long term one only for it to withdrawn! It's extremely sneaky at the very leastsarahg1969 wrote: »They can withdraw any offers at any time they wish. I don't see the problem.0 -
Sorry but I can't see how it is sneaky. They have an offer which will inevitably be of limited stock and then withdraw it. I cannot see how that misleads you.
Whats the issue?0 -
even if they left the notice up they are under NO OBLIGATION to honour it anyway...Agree with sarahg1969 and the dates on the labels are incase they forget to take it down and one day after they finished the offer someone notices the one label that was left up and have to honour as it's not dated.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

I understand this but most stores in my experience particularly major stores will if you ask.Geordie_bear wrote: »I understand that however why can't they put a realistic time period for their offers? mmm. don't see what the difference is you have not agreed to buy x amount of the product under false pretences(sp) they may have intended it to be long term but then hadden a sudden increase in prices from the supplier.0
