We have just moved into a flat that is all electric we also have night storage heaters.

Our supplier is Npower but after searching around we found a better price plan decided to switch and this is where problems arise. We tried EDF first and they said they couldnt support our meters as we have 2 meters, now British Gas said they could support both meters but it would cost us probably more as they cannot give us the lower rate on our 2nd meter, 1 meter is for our main electric supply and the other is for the night storage heater.

Npower dont seem to have a problem but it seems we are being forced to stay with them for our supply, or if we move we have to pay a inflated price for having a second meter. We dont even use the storage heaters.

Has anyone else have this situation and how did you get around it if you were switching supplier??

Any advice is appreciated..

    Can you clarify what the 2 meters are?
    They should be "Normal" and "Low".
    The "Low" records usage during the E7 period.
    The "Normal" records during the hours when the "Low" is not recording.
    The recording changes between the meters by some automatic means, often a radio signal.
    Maybe yours is not like this?

    If it is, then most suppliers should be able to offer you a 2 meter tariff, or E7 as it is often called.

    In your post you say you have storage heaters and you dont use storage heaters.
    First question is how do you heat the flat? The answer to this question will determine a what further advice I post for you.

    hello, yes we do have storage heaters but dont use them as they do not seem to work till about 11pm, so if we are cold of an evening we use either a halogen or electric stove heater but usually we are in bed by 11pm.

    thanks

    2 mpan sites can generally not be supported outside the pes area. The only option you have is to stick with npower or get them to change you to a 1mpan tariff such as economy 7 or just a 1 rate tariff.

    This should help explain how your electricity is provided:

    A Meter Point Administration Number also known as MPAN, Supply Number or S-Number is a 21 digit reference, used in Great Britain to uniquely identify electricity supply points, such as individual domestic residences;
