A couple of weeks ago i sent off for my SAR and enclosed a £10 cheque to Capital One. I still haven't heard of received anything although yesterday when i called them they said they had received the cheque and it would take between 7 to 10 working days to receive my information. Does it always take this long?

A Subject access request can take 40 days under the Data Protection Act 1998. It's fine for now, but I would diarise the date that they have said it should be received from them.A couple of weeks ago i sent off for my SAR and enclosed a £10 cheque to Capital One.
