hallo, your dog looks so lovely, when i see such gorgeous rescue dogs, (including my own) i always wonder how could anyone part with them though of course many people have change of circumstances, lose homes, family breakup , etc and have to rehome their pets.my rescue dog, a JRT was also about 3 when i got him and have had him 11years now, he is such a joy though showing signs of old age now .

Lol thanks Yorkie. We let him pick it himself! We took him to Pets at Home, held up three we liked and he grabbed at that one! Lol His collar is the same. Seems to suit him!

Very wise to limit his choice. I saw a JRT in PAH the other week in a pink harness with little pink fairy wings and a pink lead. And it was a bloke dog !
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • We've had one of our rescue dogs for 14 years now (she's 15 and a whippet cross) and the other for 2 years, she's also a whippet cross. I've always fed mine on Bakers complete and never had any problems although to be honest they do eat any leftovers we have!!

Loopy - I got sent this when I first adopted our Bruno. Granted he is a Jack Russell Terrier but you little Muttley (which happens to be brunos nickname too) looks like he has a bit of Jack in him but I think the description is perfect for Terriers in general

    Characteristics Of The Breed

    Terriers Are Unique.
Every one has a unique personality, they have feelings and moods, and their only want is to love you and for you to love them in return.

Terriers Want To Be The Centre Of Attention.
If you want a dog that is happy to sleep quietly in the corner, then don't get a Terrier! When bored, they will create new and fun jobs for themselves, or alternatively start destroying things!

Terrier s Are Great Guard Dogs.
They can become very territorial, protecting their domain with endless effort. They are fearless and embody the cliche "a big dog in a small dogs body". They will defend you if you're approached by strangers in the street.

    Terrier's Do Shed!
They shed all year round leaving white hair all over the place especially your clothes. If you're precious about your appearance and your furnishings, Terrier sare not the breed for you!

    Their Traits
They will dig, both in the garden and they'll dig "phantom" holes indoors (which is hilarious!). They'll bark, guard, hunt insects and react aggressively to external noise. It is essential that you have a secure outdoor area for them.

What Are They Like To Walk?
They have unlimited energy and require a lot of exercise. Be prepared for long walks in all weather. Such is the strength of their instinct and natural curiousity, they will bolt or "go hunting!" They do not fear larger dogs, indeed aggression is sometimes foolishly displayed.

    Discipline And Training
The relationship between owner and Terrier is a constant battle of wits. They are very stubborn and will always try to challenge your authority. Never back down!

    With Kids
Despite anything that you read from other sources, a Terriers relationship with children depends entirely on the individual dog. One of my Terriers adores children of all ages whereas the other becomes violently possessive of me in the presence of kids.

He looks a lovely little guy though and as for the puddles in doors - my JRT is almost 9 and was very neglected when he came to us and he is still wetting indoors despite having been with us for almost 4 years.

My terrier does well on tinned food and mixer at the minute but I have an on going effort with his feeding due to psychological problems he has with cold weather but he seems to be doing well on that at the minute. He did well on Wagg too though and enjoyed it. You can add scraps of meat to this though, or my dog enjoyed gravy added to it. He also use to get a tin of sardines every so often which helped his coat and any Sunday roast veg that is left over can be given as well. When Bruno was getting ill to begin with we were recommended chicken soup (that may of been FC again thinking about it) and my mother in law recommended mince and rice which we now give him as a treat if hes good (obviously its not a healthy every day diet).

Also the diet of digestive biscuits, sandwiches, leftovers that i think FC mentioned above seems to be good as this is currently what my mother in laws collie lives on and to say she's gained a few pounds is exaggeration.
    Time to find me again
