Haven Holidays is now running a 10% off promotion at Primrose Valley.

So that reduces the cost of 3 nights in a luxury, er, caravan to £300. . . a bargain well worthy of comparison with the luxury break family weekends offered by upmarket hotel companies in the UK which aren't self catering.

Good to see the support and sympathy the OP is getting but it's a pity the search engines seem likely to miss this thread because searchers will be looking for Haven Holidays more than anything else, rather than HAVEN alone.

What is particularly disturbing about the OP's complaint is that it's one which could by no means have been unfamiliar to the management and staff of Haven Holidays Primrose Park:

    where the posts at 14th September / 28th July 2008 / 20th July 2008 (2) uncannily anticipate the OP's recent experience.

Interesting, though sad, to note that the 28th July poster has decided never to patronise Haven Holidays again but instead go to. . . Butlins.

If the Op has time, then the tripadvisor and review centre threads are still "live" and, if the OP has the inclination, so is the opportunity to cite all those near-identical complaints in a final letter to Malcolm Day, Director, Primrose Valley (or manager, who can tell with an outfit as woefully opaque as Bourne Leisure?)

We stayed at Haven in mavblethorpe in March and we also upgraded caravans.

The heating was tricky to work, but there was a maintenance man in the next caravan repairing something, so we got his to show us how to get it working and it was fine after that.

We also didn't have a toaster, but we were told that the toaster would 'trip' the electrics? weird huh?

Also, we didn't have any shelves in the oven, so we couldn't 'cook' anything, we ended up buying a shelf from the market in Mablethorpe for a few pounds, and a toaster.

We wrote a letter explaining this to Haven and they've offered us a 20% on our next holiday and refunded the cost of the shelf and the toaster we bought.

Perhaps codger has had a bad experience with them.

I will be answering with similar if I ever find anything about them from now on.

I too am gobsmacked at how much a caravan for 3 nights costs! I've just booked a three bedroom villa in Menorca for a week in August for £600! I know which one I'd prefer! (I don't mean to knock a caravan holiday - I just mean I can see why OP is upset if it wasn't up to expectations)

We stayed at Primrose Valley on Bank Holiday week through a Sun holiday, the caravan had holes in the walls where someone had punched them, wallpaper hanging off and toilet seat in the kitchen sink !

I complained immedietly and was given a top of the range caravan on the seafront with central heating , and large TV.

They dealt with my complaint quickly and went above what i had expected.

Well done Haven , i can only speak as i can find and never had any other problems with Havens at all

Having stayed at primrose valley a few times, in both chalets and caravans, I can't say as we had a problem, both fairly standard dwellings.... up to Haggerston in August last year, again, standard plus caravan, no problems... booked on site for a week at end of May this year at Lakeland.... never been to the Lakes so we decided to upgradge to Prestige, which it states in the brochure as the Ultimate in Luxury!!

Well, it did have a tv and dvd player (14 inch), it did have a microwave, and it did have heating, although it wasn't needed, other than that though, I could see no difference between the decor in the standard and standard plus and the prestige, and according to their brochures they are worlds apart. Our bed was still as small, the mattress was still as thin, the quilt was still as flimsy, the twin room were still tiny, the shower room was a tad bigger though, the living room and kitchen were sad to say the least, the door hanging off the cooker being just one small problem..... no toaster, no grater, no oven trays, no whisk, in fact cutlery and crockery were both worse than we have experienced in the past.

On the Monday, we woke to workmen and diggers, tractors with music blaring, drills.... well you name it, we had it. Of course I complained onsite, I was told that my comments would be passed on and that I would receive a response within 28 days!!! When we took another look at the paperwork, it seems we should have been in a different van, they crossed those details out and hand wrote the new ones in. Also, we were put it what seemed to be the staff area of the park, with two lifeguards and the caravan sales woman just in the neighbouring caravans.

Someone did come to our van on the Thursday.. seems they'd had many complaints about the noise of the workmen, they explained that the field had flooded a few weeks previous and they deemed the work urgent... so why didn't they tell us a few weeks ago and give us the option of going elsewhere?? Also, I doubt if this is the first time the field has flooded, they have a long off season and have had plenty of time to attend to any urgencies then I am sure.

I am unsure as to my next plan of action, I have video footage of the works carried out and other pictures of the caravan etc, but do I wait the 28 days for their response or do I write a letter of complaint now??

Haven on this occassion, have in my opinion, really gone down in my estimations.
