Problems with Sky & Freeview

Just wondering if anyone can help... last night 10 mins into the apprentice our Sky TV suddenly went to no signal... theres absolutely nothing there, we can't get to planner to watch recorded items on it or do anything... so I went into the bedroom to watch on freeview but thats also showing no signal...

We can get terrestrial TV in the livingroom so channels 1-5 but just no sky, & no freeview or terrastrial in the bedroom...

I've tried turning sky box off etc with no luck, have called sky & checked everything through with them & theres no more they can do over the phone.

Because its not just Sky were having problems with we think it might be something to do with the wires outside? I live in a flat & its a communal dish... the flat is rented through a housing assosiation but they're saying its not their responsibility even though it was them who upgraded the wiring a month or so ago...

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks
Laura

If it's a communal dish, have your neighbours had the same problem? if so, it's the responsibility of the manging agents to fix the system. If not, it's more likely a receiver fault, which is down to you and sky.
I don't understand how the terrestial side can fail as well at the same time though-how are the two TV's receiving-communal roof aerial, loft aerial, set top aerial? If you can still get analogue TV then it sounds like both your Sky Box and Freeview box have failed-maybe a power surge?
Have you tried doing a manual retune of both Freeview and skyboxes?
If you are still getting power to both the sockets serving the two boxes (which presumably you are) then the wiring (if you mean the electrical wiring, not the aerial/dish wiring) is not the problem.

Thanks, my OH is usually quite good with all this stuff but he can't get his head round it.. we've tried doing manual installs but it picks nothing up at all on both sky & freeview in bedroom. Its just odd that we're getting analogue in the living room but not in the bedroom, as far as I know its all connected up through the main aerial on the building.

I've spoken to a couple of people in the flats but they don't seem to be having a problem.

I'm just baffled because its all gone & not one or the other. If it was just the sky I would assume it to maybe be my sky+ box or a problem with the communal dish.. Hopefully the housing assosiation will give in & come have a look, they recently upgraded it all to enable us to use sky plus & this is the first time we've had a problem..

Are both the terrestial feeds (bedrom and living room) from the same communal aerial? If so it can't be an aerial problem, it has to be the Freeview box.
All I can suggest is you take the box to a friend and test it there, If it doesn't work you know if must be the box.
As for Sky, if the neigbours are OK it's not a dish problem, unless it's just your feed that's affected.
If it's a communal system and the fault is not with you equipment, it must be their responsibility, who else's could it be?-just check yout tenancy agreement.
