win32.nyxem.e@mm removal?

OK - I was foolish - opened an email with some photos I was expecting - and zap. Scan on BitDefender says that I have this virus x10. Have deleted the offending emails, run the Symantec w32.blackmal@mm removal tool twice, but the virus still shows up on BitDefender.
Have tried running Housecall (Using Firefox because my IE keeps crashing) but that keeps freezing too.

Turn off system restore then run program then turn back on.

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Select the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK.
4. Click Yes when you receive the prompt to the turn off System Restore.

Turn on System Restore
To turn on System Restore, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Clear the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK
