I'm with scottish power - energy online, so I have been putting my meter readings in every month, so I can keep on top of things, and don't end up with a huge bill. My average monthly spend for elec seems to have been around the £55 - £75, I have just returned from a week away and decided to put the readings in, and was horrified to find out that this months elec was £219.82!!, I have since emailed them as there doesnt seem to be any contact numbers , as I feel that surely the meter must be faulty,
they have said that if I send them the reading again they will check it! I was just wondering if anyone else had, had a similar problem and if so what the outcome was! Thanks for any advice in advance!

I have gas with SP and put meter readings in every month as you do. Next day a bill is generated based on the reading so I can only think that you have misread your meter or you have used the energy. Our average electricity spend is about £45 a month but, when we moved into our present house the immersion heater was faulty and that generated a bill of over £200.
How many kwh have you used since your last reading?0 -
:o:o Panic over - I've received an email from them and it seems that I had put the readings in incorrectly and that I am actually £13.00 in credit! :j- Thanks for your comment - I think maybe my mind was still on holiday!

For future reference, Scottish Power can be telephoned on 02380 222221. At least that's the number on a paper bill I have here.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

I am pleased that you mixed up the reading - what a shock otherwise.
We have SP electric and I sent in my meter reading last month and was so pleased cos we were sent a cheque back for being in too much credit - came in a few days. and our DD was reduced from £44 to £36.
Have been trying to get the same with the gas with NPower and today they have dropped our DD by £10 per month - no refund though sadly!0
