To cut a long story short,a few weeks ago I sent a letter to my bank asking to be payed back all my overdraft charges, which came to about £850 over a year. The only reason i had the overdraft in the first place was to cover myself from all the rediculous charges put on me by the bank. At the beggining of 2008 I had been £20 overdrawn without realising, which ended up costing me around £120, which made me even more overdrawn. That carried on for a few months.
I read an article about claiming to be in financial hardship, so i followed the template letter on this site, filled it out and sent it to my bank.I told them that my circumstances at home had changed, i was suggling to get out of my overdraft because of their over-the-top charges, and was struggling to pay for everyday things such as food/petrol etc.I had also had a Direct Debt for my car insurance defaulted, because the charges from one particular month made me over £100 over my limit the day the D/D was due to be paid.My idea was that they would repay me and I would finally be out of my overdraft, then when my next lot of wages goes in i would be able to budget correctly, and not go anywhere near my overdraft again. I got a reply a few days ago, which basicly said it was being looked into and i might hear somthing in 4-8 weeks.
I had an overdraft of £500 set up.I logged into my online account today and saw that im £320 overdrawn and that they've reduced my limit to £150! Has this got somthing to do with the letter i sent? I tried to increase my limit online, just abit so i wouldnt get charged more, but it keeps saying the request is denied, which has never happened to me before. Now i dont know what to do, im obvisouly incuring more and more charges, please help!!
