    Hi

IF the pressure is 4 bar dropping to 2.5 with, 13-15 l/m, I might fit a Vaillant 831 on the understanding that I told you it would not perform to it's best, and if you're not happy it's not my fault.:D

I would be inclined to find out if that pressure/flow is common to other houses, or is it just your incoming supply. You might find a new main from the street would improve things. For example your main could be 1/2" iron. Swap that for 25mm plastic and it would make a huge difference.

Funny you should mention the Vaillant 831.
I think the guy who recommened the ecoTec Plus did at 1st recommened the 831, but then suggested the ecoTec when I said I might want to run 2 showers at once if we have guests stay over.

And yes, I think we do have a 1/2" pipe coming into the house.

Didn't realise we could swap it for a 25mm. Although as it comes into the house in the kitchen (which is at the back of the house) i would imagine this would be near on impossible?!?

    Hi

You will not run two showers at once with the mains you have now.
Impossible to tell how you might get a new main into your house.I can't see it.

Rather than all this messing about with new mains pipes, wouldn't it be easier/cheaper to keep the existing hot water system in place and just install a new boiler and shower pump?

    Hi

It probably would, and if I were in the OP's house I might suggest it, But I'm not, I'm answering the OP's questions over the internet.;)

we had a combi in our old house and prefer this system compared to the boiler/cylinder combination.

Also, i'm keen to remove the boiler from the kitchen and relocate to the bathroom cupboard.

oh, and just to confirm, I called the plumber who pressure tested the water and it was defo just over 4bar with 1 tap on, and about 2.5 bar with 2 taps on (outside tap and kitchen sink)

hopefully it should be installed in a few weeks, so i'll come back and let you know if i have the pressure i was after....fingers crossed.

thanks again to everyone for their help/feedback
