Natwest Credit Card from 1999-00

I'm not sure really where to place this thread, so if it's in the wrong place my apologies.
I have a situation I am trying to sort out from some years ago. I am about to turn 30 this year and am trying to get a mortgage with my girlfriend, but am finding it difficult as I have a lot of bad credit from when I was 18. Like you do when your young, you just stick your head in the sand, and think it will go away and won't affect you. With age you know better though and look back thinking 'what the hell was I doin!'
Anyhow, I got offered 2 credit cards from the Natwest, and I also took out a bank loan. Long story short I defaulted on the payments for both. They got passed on to a collection agency, which I've been paying ever since. That happened in about 2002/03. I have a CCJ coming off my record this month, but I have noticed on my credit file that Natwest have still been marking me as defaulted every month up to the current month. Even though the debt has been passed on to a collection agency over 5 years ago.
Is this even allowed? My payments to the collection agency don't show up on my file either. Is this correct?
Also I found some of the paper work from the time, and I found the following.
1) On my credit card I was paying for PPI
2) On my loan, the bank would send me letters at £30 a time telling me I was overdrawn on my current account, and had no money in it, but that they would still be taking the monthly loan payment out. Turning the 2 original debts (credit card and loan) into 3 debts which included an unauthorised overdraft now at mental APR's.
I need some help to sort this mess out.

I spoke to Natwest customer service yesterday, and they told me I would need to go into a branch and speak to someone.
Would I be in a position to claim back the charges on the letters sent out in relation to the loan, and the PPI on the credit card?0 -

Hmmmm, customer services usually send people into the branch when they know sod all themselves. If the branch don't know anything ask them to look at the archive notes system under accounts. They should be able to locate all details of this from that period of time.0 -
thanks for the reply natweststaffmember.
How do you think I stand on the reclaim front?0 -

I won't get the opportunity to go into a bank until weekend to get more information.
By 'the payments' I assume you are referring to the continuing defaults I am getting from Natwest I highlighted earlier?0 -

From post one you indicated you had paid it through a debt collection agency. Were they received by NatWest?0 -

This is what I will have to confirm with Natwest when I go to see them on Saturday.
I have been paying Intrum Justia every month for years. They are the collection agency who took the debt up.
So I don't fully understand what is going on. Possibly the collection agency have not been reporting the payments, which if that is the case, they will be in trouble.0 -
Ok I went into the Natwest branch yesterday like CS advised me to, and they were less than helpful. I had to argue with the member of staff just to get her to check the system for the account details.
I gave her my Advantage Gold account number, and also the account number for the current account that had been set up by CMS Retail Recovery, both were not available on her system. She basically said that that meant the accounts were closed.
I asked why I am still being defaulted by Natwest then, and she said I would need to get in touch with Equifax and Callcredit to query it, as she thinks that the collection agency made not be reporting my payments to Natwest.
Where do I stand on this now?0 -

What utter trash. I love this. Go into the branch, tell her that she needs to go to Back Office system, enquiry codes are 04, 45(NatWest Archive),02 I think she will need with account number and sort code. It will bring up the accounts. She needs to look at archived notes. 100% it takes roughly 30 seconds if that,
If that doesn't get you the information then send a SAR to NatWest and ask for the archived notes giving those details.0
