Dear all, we are first time buyers soon needing to buy a small under-counter fridge and also a washing machine.
We know some of the big brand items are made by smaller brands - can you recommend your top cheaper brand fridge and washing machine that are reliable?
Any hints & tops much appreciated - thank you. :T

Well Reading the Which Magazine website guides BOSCH and Miele and AEG seem the best makes. I'd stay away from Hot Point and Hoover ones due to the fact that they tend to get bad reliability ratings.
Again looking at Fridges on Which Magazine website these are best buys:
Tall Fridges:
Hotpoint RLA61
Frigidaire RLE1099A
Worktop-height fridges
Bosch KTR18425GB
Built-in tall fridges
Whirlpool ARG 979/3
Built-in worktop-height fridges
Whirlpool ARG581/2
Whirlpool ARG588/3
AEG Santo U86000-4i
I personally have a Belko fridge. It was Energy rated A and one of the cheapest I could get at the time (3 years ago) and so far hasn't gave me any problems even going through 2 house moves!
Another point to mention is that if you see something you like in Comet or Currys stores don't buy them there. Look on their website first as their website prices are nearly always lower than their store prices.
Hope this helps,

I bought a Bosch washing machine and I can recommend it, seems to be well built and it came with 2 years warranty. The one I had before was a Whirlpool, it lasted about 2 years. Incidentally AEG are made by Electrolux.0

I don't think you can beat Bosch for washing machines and their prices seem to have come down to reasonable levels now. I have just bought the Which best buy Bosch machine from Comet. Which magazines are avilable to read at all local libraries and are always worth a read before buying any large appliance as it's not always the most expensive that comes out on top.0

Thanks all - we will definately look for Bosch washing machines & fridges if these are the best bet. If anyone has any thoughts on lesser known brands that are also reliable, so let us know...
Thanks

Have Bosch washing machine and dishwasher - well worth that LITTLE bit extra.
Fridges tend to be very reliable, get the one you like.0 -
hi,well i use to be bosch engineer,i would recomend them, easy to work on,reliable, energy efficiant.one word of warning about any machine, try to desclae them as offten as possible (depends on mount of use & hardness of water).i would say about 80% of my calls was due to lime scale.0
