Thanks for that, but i originally did not want the card for this type of purchase.
I have been on Thomas Cooks website but there is no sign of any charges for credit card payments and the same with the Co-operative bank website.0 -
If you use your card for purchases abroad you will save a lot. If you don't have cash available, try to make cash spending as low a possible and pay by a CC where it is accepted.
P.S. If you draw cash abroad you pay the same 2% plus 2.75% comission based on Visa rate. Compare Thomas Cook rate with today's Visa rate: http://www.corporate.visa.com/pd/consumer_ex_rates.jsp?src=look
P.P.S. BTW many regulars of the Debt-Free Wannabe board ( ) started with excessive borrowing for a holiday a few years ago ... If you don't have cash available, £1000 is quite a big amount to spend on top of tickets and accomodation ...:think:0 -
On the Co-op site look in the summary box section of the terms and conditions, they should have sent you a paper copy too.0

Have you got the £1000? If so pay cash.
if not, then just get a small amount out and use your card for purchases abroad, it will be far cheaper, i think?0 -
Thanks but the holiday and everything was paid in full with cash that i did not borrow.
Can someone tell me i know it is not the acceptable thing to do, but how much euros i can have in my hand if i bought the euros on my credit card, what with Thomas Cook and Co-operative charges0 -
Hi,
Just checked the co-operatives summary box and a 2% charge is applicable but can't find out what Thomas Cooks charge is.
Anyone know?0 -
Hi,
Just checked Co-operative Summary box and also the phoned Thomas Cook.
I will have to pay a 2% charge from co-op but no charge from Thomas Cook.
Therefore i could get £980 worth of Euros and pay the charge of £19 odd.
I know it defeats the purpose of this board but desperate times call for desperate measures.
It just means that i won't be able to have 2 more jugs of sangria.0 -

If it is an interest free balance transfer card, could a friend or family member help you out by you paying a credit card for them which they clear in full each month and them giving you the cash? Long shot I know but just might help0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the advice, but i will only be paying £20 in charges which i think is acceptable and willing to pay.
Thanks for everyones help.0 -
 Yes only £20 in charges, plus £13 per month interest till cleared.
Have a great holiday :beer:0
