Parking Fine

Hi
Today I got a parking ticket while parked in exactly the same place I've parked for the last 6 months. The official offence was 'Causing an Unneccesary Obstruction', i.e. at a junction. I took a photo of where I'd parked in relation to the junction for future reference. It's a residential area, not a main road or even a B road and I parked, as usual around 10-20 feet down from the junction, on the other side of the road (which is two car widths wide).
There are no yellow lines, single or double, or any signage along the whole road on either side to suggest that parking on that road was prohibited or limited in any way. I have taken photos of the road too.
Do I have any argument to contest this ticket (only a £30 fine but I've parked there for 6 months now without any problems)?
Thanks:mad:

What's the legal distance you can park from a junction? If you will the end, you must will the means.0

Is this a fixed penalty notice from the police or a PCN from the council?
If the former - your best bet usually is to pay.
If the latter, there is a parking forum where you will see a stickie containing instructions, so you can get some further advice.0 -
I don't think 10-20ft away from the junction is far enough. I think you are supposed to be further away than that.0

Were any part of your wheels on the pavement?0

DO NOT stop or park
near a school entrance
anywhere you would prevent access for Emergency Services
at or near a bus or tram stop or taxi rank
on the approach to a level crossing/tramway crossing
opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
Hope that clears it up for you.0 -
Ok, thanks for the replies, I'm getting the impression that I just didn't park far enough away from the junction, although this is the first occassion on which it's caused a problem! Also, it's a police notice, so I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay.
Thanks again!0 -

That's probably because it was the first time the police saw you parked there when they had nothing better to do. It sucks, but that's the way it works sometimes. Paying up would be a good idea...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
