Can anyone offer any advice on a £2100 gas & electricity bill!!!

In November i was approached by Southern Electric who said that i was paying too much for my gas and electricty, and based on my bills they could provide me with considerably cheaper utilities. I had been paying about £70 per month DD for both utilities, and they said they could reduce it to about £45. As a single mother of two young boys, any offer to reduce costs is welcomed and i signed up. I have just recieved my first bill since November, and i have an outstanding balance of £1500 for my electricity and £600 for my gas, this is for a 6 month period, and includes my monthly direct debit payments.

How the hell have they calculated this and how can my usage have quadrupled in 6 months???? there is no way i can pay this!!! I get no support or maintainance from my ex-husband and my income alone barely covers my living expenses.

has any one else experienced similar problems with Southern Electric, and can any one tell me what i can do under the circumstances..... I am desperate!!!!!

Have you asked them how they've calculated it? You don't give any details in your post - utility bills are specific to the household. You might live in a 20 bedroom mansion as far as I know...

I think you need to approach the company and ask them to explain first.

Sorry, I live in a small three bedroom terraced property, i have gas central heating and the only electricty used is lighting, tv/satellite, and kitchen appliances.

Then it looks like an error. Have you come off a prepayment meter or anything like that?

Are you being billed on estimated readings? Do the reading on the bill correspond the to reading on the meter? Is the opening reading correct?
