Help needed for my parents please

Hi, i dont know if this is the right place to post this so please move if needed.
My mum is 65 and has retired this year on a basic state pension and my dad is 2 years from retirement. He has just found out hes going to be put on a three day week next month with a possibility of being made redundant if things dont pick up.
My dad is taking it very hard and im so worried about them and how they'll cope financially, I doubt my dad will be able to get another job or if he would be able to cope with finding another job. I know the thought of having to go to the job centre and sign on is really worrying him.
Theyre not the sort to ask anyone for help so I would wondering if anyone could offer some advice on where I could find out if they are entitled to any help or what help would be available to my dad in finding another job.

As he is over 60 if he were unemployed he could claim pension credit - as could your mother if he stopped work. See Age Concern or the CAB for entitlements.Their rent and council tax would also be paid.
