Student finance Wales - help needed please...

Hi All
I hope you can help. I'm at a crossroads in life and and trying to come to a decision and maybe you can help with 1 path.

Here's the background.
I've worked for my company for 8 years, since i left school. Ive worked up to a decently paid position in the HR function, but am at risk of redundancy. (I've got no doubt i would get the new job, more positions/better pay) but im seeing this as an opportunity to leave, pay off my credit card, overdraft and do something different.

So, 1 option that i'm really interested in is going to uni. Ive studied with open uni part time previously but i'm interested in FT study at a local uni. I'm living with my mother at present and plan to remain here whilst studying, but obviously my income is going to take a nosedive. Ive already applied for PT work to supplement my income and help pay off debts...

The questions i need help with are these...

If i accept redundancy, i will be in the 28 days redeployment shortly, and may need to work 8 weeks notice. Im happy to do this cos it keeps money coming in, however, will this affect my entitlement to, and application for funding?

What funding will i get? Ive seen maintenance loans and maintenance grants. Can i get both? or will one affect the other as i seem to get conflicting info from diff sites.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help....

You'll find all the details on www.direct.gov.uk

As a single independent student you should receive the Fee Loan, Student Loan, Maintenance Grant and university bursary. Because you'll get the Maintenance Grant you'll receive a slighly lower Student Loan but the total will be greater and less of it will need to be repaid.

If you can sort your debts out before you start, you should be able to manage very well, depending on how much you contribute to the household. If you and your mother are the only adults living at the property there'll also be a 25% discount on the council tax.
