Connected but can't find pages?

I recently installed AVG on our laptop due to it having trojans. All viruses etc have been removed and computer runs well BUT...
although the wireless connection in showing as "connected" and I can check my e-mail via outlook when I try to get any webpage it just gives the "page cannot be displayed" and possible problem as "not connected to internet"
I have tried everything that I can think of to solve this. Both other computers (daughter's laptop and desktop) are working fine so it only leads me to believe that it's something to do with AVG
Has anyone else experienced problems or can anyone help out please?

when i have this problem i go to the bit that shows the connection and click on repair and then it works0

Try internet explorer settings/options, connections tab.
Made sure its set to "never dial a connection"
Click on LAN settings and check "automatically detect", hit apply, close and reopen internet explorer and see if it's worked.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
