Having starting recieving "mild" shocks when taking a shower we called in an electrician who told us it was wired up wrong and bypassed the fusebox .on futher inspection the extention is slaved off socket points as well as the cooker. A fire waiting to happen !! Ll is aware but does nothing . Is there any organization that we can contact or is this what me my wife and kids have to put up with ??

Who owns the house? Is it rented? Sorry just saw LL He is responsible. Try local council lettings officer. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

It is the LL's responsibility.
It is a legal requirement that it is safe or he can be sued.
The Council Private Tenants' Department will be able to advise - they can probably arrange to have it officially condemned so the LL gets a nasty looking letter ...0 -
get in the shower....get electrocuted....saves putting gel in your hair to make it spiky
Seriously, though, this is a major major issue.
See PasturesNew advice0 -
Gosh thats awful, you shouldn't have to put up with that, it is unsafe, it is up to the landlord to sort it out. I would do what Pasturesnew advices.Married 09/09/090

'phone then WRITE (recorded signed-for for this) to LL & agent if there is one noting the issue and request it be fixed urgently & asking to be advised what will happen within 2 days.
After 2 days if no response write again, recorded signed for. Keep copies of all letters.
Then see Shelter & CaB advice on getting repairs.
With something like this with a risk to health/life you can't use the shower or take risks..
Sorry to hear your story.
Cheers!

You must confirm this to the LL *in writing*, as others have said. He is legally obliged to keep the electrical system etc in good safe working order: as Pastures has mentioned there is a specific officer at the local council who deals entirely with private rentals issues & will have a title such as Tenancy Relations Officer/Landlord Liaison Officer. They can deal direct with the LL if necessary. You should ask for the property to be assessed urgently under HHSRS (Housing Health & Safety Rating System): the LL can be ordered to get the work done or face prosecution.
