Can you use a guitar hero guitar (bought for the xbox 360) on a ps2 console?

We bought one of the guitar hero guitars from argos a couple of months ago when it was on offer at £14.99 (I think it was that price).
If we bought a guitar hero game for the ps2, could we use the guitar on the ps2 as well as the xbox 360?

It's a usb connector.
I had read that you can use it on your pc to play frets on fire so thought you would be able to use it on the ps2 too.0
