Sony 40W5500 calibration - newbie

As suggested by the title, am a calibration newbie. Am about (next day or two) to replace my old CRT with the above. Now until I read a completely over my head review, which I could barely understand a bit of, I would have gotten it out of the box and watched. So can anybody suggest some settings for film watching and game playing? Brightness to 30 or something like that would be fab
