What counts as an Insurance claim?

Hi,

I am due to renew my car insurance and I have been using websites like confused.com etc to find the best deal. However, I have came across a sumbling block. Every website asks if I have made a claim in the last 3 years etc. and I am unsure what to tick.

I was involved in an accident in May last year where I was driving my Girlfriend's Mother's car (I was a named driver on the insurance). I was not at fault for the accident. Everything was sorted and a claim was made on her Mother's insurance. I got compensation for injuries and so did my girlfirend.

I have since earned 1 year no claims on my girlfriends and my own insurance, driving our car. Now that I am renewing my insurance do I say that I have made an insurance claim, even though the claim was not in my name or on my insurance? My Girlfriends mother is saying that I would say that I would tick no because no claim was made in my name.

Sorry if that is confusing but it makes sense it my head!
