Neighbours fence

On our side of the garden we have had a 3ft green mesh fence for about 15years. Our bushes etc have grown up and covered it nicely and it forms the boundary between us and next door. Our neighbours have now put up a 6ft high wooden fence next to our fence all the way down the garden which I dont have a problem with. They are doing lots of work to their garden and today I noticed a very thick black electrical cable now comes over the top of this fence from a light on the other side and they have attached it to the back of the fence facing into my garden for about 3 panel lengths. Obviously they dont want to see this ugly cable when they are in their garden but equally neither do I. Do I have any right to complain. The high fence is obviously on their property as it runs next to my fence.

You'd get better advice in the home buying & renting forum. Is it your boundary? I don't know what the deal is if it's your boundary edge. Personally, I'd be glad I didn't have to buy an expensive 6ft fence
(we also have 3ft wire mesh on our boundary. I doubt there's anything you can do if they've built it "in their garden" it's like saying you don't like their garden furniture :P
If it's their boundary, then I think you're allowed to paint your side...I'd paint over it or get some kind of plant that will grow over it.

I'd just try to grow something over it. If you mostly get on ok with your neighbours it isn't worth falling out about.0

I'm no expert but if the original fence is on the boundary, then the fence they've put up is on their land (we had a neighbour who did this, leaving a 6 inch gap between the boundary and their fence). I'm guessing, that if the cable is still on their property then there isn't much you can do about it.
Might be worth seeking some advice before doing anything too drastic!

You are not allowed to paint or attach anything to a neighbour's fence, it's classed as criminal damage!
We had something similar, our neighbours have attached plant holders into our garage wall (just because it was facing into their garden)
Problem is that same side of garage if damp inside now is it because of them banging nails into it???
Any advise please?0 -
Could you not just ask them nicely if they could put the cable on their side of the fence?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
We get on fine with the neighbours and it would only be a 'nice' moan if you see what I mean. I just wanted to know where I stood as such as I know there are rules etc about fences and which way they should face etc, just wondered if I had any right to have a quick moan. Suppose I will have to grow some tall bushes or let the convulvulus grown round the cable !!0
