Hi,
I have to admit that i havent been in a while, but we always stayed in montechoro and would take long walks into albufeira at night. (If you are staying right at the top at ie montechoro hotel its a really long walk, lol)
Just thinking of albufeira i do believe thats where you can find the loveably named cardiac hill, now thats what you call a steep hill especially when its a scorching hot day.
In montechoro itself theres loads of pubs restuarants and a few clubs everything is mainly based in the strip so its quite eventful and usually lively. If my memory serves me right the strip gets busier the further down you get.
Also have to comment on the gorgeous beaches, its a beautiful place to visit!
I used to go nearly every summer and i really miss it!

If you are after clubbing then definately Albufeira or Praia da Rocha. PdR is not as big as Albufeira and I wouldn't say it is as nice either (if you can call it nice!)
Both towns are pretty much built for tourism and bucket n spade holidays. Yes there are some nice areas but they are right next to other not so good one and you only have to walk 10 yards to get to your nearest "pub" serving all day english breakfast.
Albufeira does have the old town and the new marina both of which are pleasent in the evening before going out to the bars and clubs. What you will find is that the bars in the new town will be quite quiet at the start of the season and mostly filled by children (yes, children) half your age getting tanked up and trying to pull each other. Great for watching but gets boring after a while and you start to feel like you are a chaparone.
Don't get me wrong though, people do have a good time (see above) and I have spent many a night in both towns.0 -

also if you book with med hotels they are the best rate online and better than booking direct with the hotel.0

So Albufeira is the place to go, for top night life?Signature what signature....0

Been to Algarve several times. The Sao Joao area of Albufeira is probably the liveliest area, with loads of bars, restaurants and clubs along the "strip."0

I went to Alvor and I loved it.
I am only 26 so wanted something fairly lively - Its not a clubbing type place but great pubs - some of the best restuarants. Really enjoyed it.
This is where we stayed - used ebay to get cheap accomodation.
