Rate Tart Game

Hi

I'm looking to switch my C/account & saving accounts to other banks for better interest, but I'm funding refurbishment of my house on plastic and being a rate tart.

My question is, if I change accounts to another bank will it affect my credit rating with the credit card companies and prevent me playing the rate tart game?

Sorry if this isn't the correct area for this post.

Regards
Brian

Simple answer is to keep your current bank account and open another one with better interest/services/facilities. You can have as many current accounts as you wish.

When applying for further credit/finance just put the original longstanding bank account details in the "how long have you been with your bank" box.

I have read on here that your credit rating will only be adversely affected if you make a number of applications in a short space of time. So if you have not changed current accounts for some time and don't have tons of credit cards / bad debts etc. I cannot see a problem although I don't know anything about your credit history

Have you had a good look around the site there are articles and many threads which tackle the issue. Here is one about credit rating

  • Thanks Guys for the reponse.

After reading quite alot of info off this site and others it is very much what I was thinking (keeping my original C/acc and applying for an other), its good some times just to confirm that you are thinking the right way.

    Thanks for the confimation
