Start getting your lists together. What services you need to change over incl. water, electricity, council tax, phone, etc.
Have a list of everywhere you need to inform of change of address; bank, doctors, service providers, family, friends, work.
Make sure you remember to take meter readings on leaving your house and as soon as you enter the new one.
Make sure your solicitor is on the ball so there are no delays...
Make your you have your 'last out first in' list and you're bits and bobs are organised.
Make sure you are in contact with everyone and know exactly what happens and when.
Good luck, hope it all goes smoothly!

Prepare yourself for the fact that the house won't look like the one you fell in love with when you get there, not until you've tidied up after the previous occupants.
I may be wrong, but it's very depressing to move into someone else's filth on top of all the stresses of moving, so if I am you'll have a pleasant surprise.0 -
Always remember to pack the kettle tea/coffee milk and cups separately so you can have a cuppa in your new home before the hassle of unpacking. Label every box/binbag so they can be directed straight into the correct rooms. Search out the TV set up manual as you might need it.It's great to be ALIVE!0

This is my own so add and delete as appropriate!
House keys (old and new)
Bedding
money
Pen/note book
kettle
Towels
tea bags
Cat food
sugar
mugs
milk
pre-made evening meal
snacks
first aid kit
toilet paper
cleaning products
Nappies + wipes (parents!)
I keep adding to this. Just to make sure everything you might need in your first 24 hours is instantly accesible, not under a pile of boxes
