  • Heres a quick tip to help with oven cleaning. Keep a sheet of tinfoil on the bottom of the oven and it gathers all spills. I have been doing this for two years and I change the tinfoil every couple of weeks. I have never had to clean the bottom surface of the oven.

Mine does have a light on it, but still seems to take maybe 5 mins to reach 200c. Is that longer than average or is it me being impatient? lol

The electric oven in the flat we have just left took 10mins or so to heat up to 200C - 5 mins is very good from my experience.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!
  • One thing I have noticed about the latest crop of fanned electric ovens is that although they heat up quickly they take ages to recover their heat whenever anything substantial is put in them, whereas my gas oven has a flame input of 6 Kw and recovers quickly after say a whole chicken is put in, my old leccy oven took about 20 minutes to get back to its 180C or whatever I set it at. Most modern cookers are fitted with 13amp plugs nowadays so have little more than the equivalent of a kettle element to heat them up. That being said the benefit of equal heating can help a lot of people unless you are a competant shelf shifter and know your oven well.
