laptop help

hi all,

I have a acer laptop with the 3 mobile broadband, i got this as part of a package with 3, i am going to my parents at the weekend and they have virgin media will this laptop work straight through there internet coneection or do i have to use my mobile dongle?? i am nearly up to my 15gb allowance and thought this will save me topping up, the only thing i am worried about is have 3 modified the acer at all to prevent other networks broadband working on it.

    If they have a wireless router, you will be able to connect to it through normal wifi.

    Mobile broadband sticks work on a different principle to wireless, and you are not tied into only using that stick. Don't worry, the 3 stick will not prevent you using a T-mobile, Vodafone or whoever mobile broadband stick....and certainly not by connecting via wireless or wired connections.

    It's only the sticks themselves that are locked (i.e. if you put a T-mobile SIM in the 3 stick, it wouldn't work). But I imagine if not illegal, it'd be very immoral to restrict your laptop to only using that one!
