EDF Energy complete inefficiency

I am being harrassed for a bill for £260 arising in 2005 for a property I sold in 2003!
I have provided EDF with change of address proof and they have confirmed to me that they have a record of me moving in 2003 and someone else paying a bill in 2004 but they have still sent my bill to a debt collection agency.
Despite writing to the CEO's office and them acknowledging the letter by telephone stating that a full investigation is under way, I have been threatened again with court proceedings by the debt collection agency. I have now complained to Consumer Direct and Trading Standards are involved.
I write to the CEO again yesterday explaining that taking me to court will be very embarassing and I am waiting for a response.
Does any one know of any newspapers who would be interested in this?

Just let them take you to court. Tell them to do so sooner rather than later to mitigate any further costs accruing since you have no intention of paying, dispute that you owe them the claimed amount and have evidence from them confirming that they know you do not owe the money.
Go to court, and don't forget to ask for costs when you win"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

That was what Trading Standards said. Don't like the idea of going to court but I really want to upset them now.0
