It sounds awful. I used to live with the neighbours from hell and it wasn't just one lot it was more, all the ha did was write letters which did nothing. The ha were bothered about it. I tried to get them to rehouse me and tried the council as it was affecting my health, in the end i had to move out and rent privately. It was the best thing i ever did and i would never ever move back to a ha or council property. In my experience and knowing a friend who along with other neighbours has to live near a neighbour from hell for over three years now. Nothing gets done about it. I really hope that in your situation they do something about it.Married 09/09/090

Hello everyone,
i have been reading all the posts and many of you have come up with some good pointers, yes camera's are good for evidence but they have to be very clear on what they catch. Unless your willing to spend loads of money you wont ever get a clear enough picture for the police to use. I am sorry to hear but it sound very much like your police are very much like your village folk and dont want the hassle and paper work. to make matters worse they know how far they can cause trouble without anything happening to them. i am so very sorry but from what i have read there is no short solution for this:mad: but please dont give up just yet
this is what i would do....:cool2:
firstly go to your police station and find out who they have to answer for, find out who is above them (get a name). then you write a letter telling them that you have a trouble with your neighbours and so do many others, but your local station do not do anything and are reluctant to enforce the law with them. do several copies of this letter making sure that all address's are on all the letters, ie the county police, the MP's, the council's and housing association. this will get them doing something about it, it wont be much but it will be something.
Secondly, start a diary of each encounter with your nieghbours listing date, time and what happened also including what actions were taken and whether tere was any results. this will have to take a while to fill out and will have to run for a while but dont ever stop it and put everything in like the swearing cutting of hedges. you can even save it on your PC as they could check the dates of when things were added without looking at the dates of the incidents.if you can try and get other people to do it as well. whether it is just you or other people as well, this will give you a much stronger case against them.
Thirdly, look up and get as much paper work from the police about bad neighbours, housing association rules and what they consider to be un-neighbourly. this you will be able to throw back at them as they are not following there own rules. this also will give you a stronger leg to stand on also.
fourthly, please try and get a petition stating that no one on there who signs will be named and post that to the police, housing, council and the MP.
Hopefully this will get you some results if not to solve it. i wish you luck and hope you can be strong while doing these. To Love Is To Be In Love. Play with Fire Expect To Get Burnt. A Relationship Is A Two Way Thing!

Hi . am so sorry for what you have been put thru and having lived with such neighbour s for 3 years i know only too wel how damaging it is to you own and your familiys health. but do take heart . as minimum wage has so succinctly portrayed a course of action which proved succesful for me. DO NOT GIVE UP PRESSING FOR ACTION. In my case the police passed me to the housing trust and la , and they pushed me back to the police each saying they could do nothing. but they have to act so keep at them and be prepared to raise the stakes each time. I hope your torment comes to an end soon. as these people seldom stay too long any where. Their creditors and bad debts pile up and they end up moving away. How I miss waking up after 1 hours sleep to find the drunks lying in the street in their vomit and dirt. (NOT). God Bless!!0

If the other house is also HA, why does the HA needs permission to put a fence up?
Surely they have the right to just go on and do it? 0 -
looks like its todays society, the laws dont seem to protect the victims in general,
our neighbours kids did a bit of damage to car,
we fitted a camera, same day g/f noticed more damage, only we'd got in on tape,
the police didn't do anything due to age of kids but said he'd appeal to the fathers good nature...ha!
when he went to see him, he caught him driving a van with no tax test or insurance, nothing happened to him, and they've done further damage to both our cars, no point calling the police, waste of time,
afraid if they are only interested in drunks and speeding drivers.
a few years ago i nearly got arrested for trying to report someone breaking into my house, and i wasn't been abusive in any way, i just wanted a crime number for insurance purposes,
sorry cant say anything constructive, i have zero faith in our police and politicians0 -
Caris, what was the outcome of the visit by the housing officer?0

And folk say I'm nasty when I say that all neds, dregs and junkies should get sent to an island where rich Americans (etc) can pay to shoot them. There's a few I'd sell my house to shoot. But that would be against their human rights or something

Step 1 : Write to the HA and ask for a copy of their Anti-Social behaviour policy. They will have one. In that policy it should say what action they can take and the time scale they should do it by.
Step 2: Find out who your local police safer neighbourhood team are. You should be able to find this on your local police force website.
Then email them (you should be able to do this thru the website). Explain that you feel you have not had a reasonable response previously and that you would like them to work with the HA to find a resolution.
Your ha and police can also work together towards an ASBO on your neighbours. There is alot of work involved but the police do not need a conviction to put an ASBO on someone, but they do have to evidence that there behaviour is anti-social, hereby causing someone else harassment alarm and distress.
Step 3: Buy yourself an A4 page per day diary. Keep a log of every single event. Dates, times, who, what, where, how. This can be used as evidence in the future. Anti-social behaviour is covered by civil law as well as criminal law, this is where the ha come in etc.
Step 4: WRITE to your housing manager and also copy the letter to the housing managers boss. Explain what the neighbours have done, explain the effects it is having on your health etc. Put in the letter that your are under the care of a doctor and that you would be willing to produce medical evidence if needs be.
The ha having several things that they should try before evicting your neighbours. One of which is a demotion of tenancy which basically means that they will be in a probationary period and if they do something wrong in that time the ha can issue a notice seeking possession of the property more easily.
If your community are all behind you then think about setting up a neighbourhood watch or crime action group. You must make sure that this group isnt st up soley for the purpose of getting rid of your neighbours from hell, you dont want to come accross as vigil anti's. Have an agenda, things like crime prevention, home security, organising local events.
Re: cctv, as long as the camera does not show any other persons property or pavementpublic access then you have nothing to worry about, you can pan it out right onto the edge of your boundary.
Hope this helps, good luck.MFW Nov 2010 £48614 Dec 2010 £420 repayment £100 OP £48453 :T0
