    Hi. I'm back.

Sorry to have worried you - we were in the hospital for hours and when we got back I was so wiped out i went to bed and have only just got up.

The short story: baby is fine, bleeding was more thrush.

    The long story:

So you know i went in by taxi, which seemed to take ages to arrive and ages to get to the hospital (and cost £17!!) but OH wasn;t there when I got to the delivery suite.

I handed over my notes and sat in the waiting room. Eventually OH arrived and after I'd been waiting 45 minutes with no-one seeing me at all I went to the nurses' station and meant to ask politely to be seen, but ended up crying at them instead :o

Still, it worked cos they took me into a room immediately and strapped on the monitors. I knew the baby was alive cos it was moving around loads but it was reassuring to hear the regular heartbeat and see that I wasn;t having any contractions that I hadn't noticed (I am convinced that when I go into labour I won;t realise).

After 40 mins of that a doctor came in and said that she would scan me in her lunchbreak. It turned out that she was training, so she scanned me while a consultant watched her, and then the consultant scanned me to do the actual measurements as they decided to do my growth scan while they were at it instead of making me go back tomorrow.

It meant we got a really long scan and very thorough, and they showed us the baby's profile and a little clenched fist which was cute.

So i was glad I'd got cross with them as otherwise I'd have had to wait hours for a scan and wouldn;t have had so much time.

The growth looks OK - baby was on the avergae line at the 20wk scan and is now just below it, so the next scan will hopefully confirm a smaller baby than usual which is what we expect.

They did discover the baby has turned breech, but the next scan in three weeks will show whether it has flipped back and they did say it's very likely.

If not, we will probably bite the bullet and get an independent midwife with experience of breech babies so I can still have my natural homebirth, or at least aim for it as you never know if you might have to transfer.

This confirms in my mind that I definitely need to do a pessary nearer the time as I'm obviously susceptible to thrush.

I know it's been a good day overall, really, in the circumstances, but I was so exhausted when I got home I just had to go to bed and sleep.

Thanks for being worried about me, but looks like I won;t be queue jumping after all!

    :)

I've had a read back and saw people were talking about nappies.

We got ours at the Baby Show and after listening to the brilliant Lollipop stand lady we decided to get five Lollipop bamboo nappies for nighttime in size 1, and 15 TotsBots birth-to-potty ones for daytimes (although I still plan to try EC).

That seemed the best combination for us, and as she was able to sell all brands and was very honest about the pros and cons of each, we felt we got good advice.

Those 20 nappies, with a deluxe bucket and accessories, cost us £243 including 100 flushable liners.

We felt that they were overall going to be much cheaper than disposables when you work out how much money you spend on them over the years, but obviously you do need the money upfront to pay for them.

Glad everything is ok Skinty. My lil lady is just below the average line too, but it's an average so half of us are gonna be below it anyway.

We expect to be under the average so that's good - just need to ensure the growth is still there when we go back, and not dropping below the acceptable curve, but I'm pretty sure there is no growth problem.
