Took a quote from direct line last week when they did not advertise 50% off contents so went back to site to get a requote and the price had actually gone up compared with the original quote. Spoke to direct line and they say prices change daily and the new price did include 50% off contents??????

When yo get a quote, doesn't it save it for a length of time so you can come back to it?0

Hi yes it does. I got the quote last week and accepted the amount. When they advertised 50% off this week i decided to see how much cheaper the policy would be and cancel the original as im still in the cooling off period and get a requote. This is when i found the cost had gone up0

Well, why on earth did you cancel before getting the re-quote?! Sorry, but I think you only have yourself to blame there! Yes, insurers change rates daily based on all kinds of performance measures for their accounts.0

So put simply - you got a quote for home insurance which you didn't feel was competitive enough at the time to take out.
You then went back later with the hope it had decreased. It hadn't as the price had increased.
Unfortunate but hardly unfair.0 -
If you get a quote one week when they are not offering 50% off contents insurance and then get a quote the next when they say you get 50% off you would expect to find it cheaper i think???0

Fogot to say that i did take out the original quote as it was a good price but still in the cooling off period so decided to see if i could get it cheaper due to the new 50% off offer0

But it turned out for you it wasn't! So next time do it in the right order (ie get your better deal in your hand before cancelling your existing arrangements!)0
