House insurance

We are buying a £134,000 3 bed semi. I'm looking to get building and contents insurance. Can anyone recommend someone cheap/good?

This would have been better posted on the insurance board really. You may get more replies there.

It's best to research & get a quotes from a few different companies as there can be quite a variation in what the premiums are. Many of the big companies give a decent discount by applying online. The Halifax, who I have buildings & contents with give a healthy 20% discount for online applications. I've always found them the cheapest & none of the other people I've had quotes from have come anywhere near them.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I use the CIS, and quite a few others on here do. They were the cheapest when I got the flat, and still cheapest now 2 years later, by about £45 a year.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
