I wonder if anyone can advise me. I moved to a new house where I found a dish already installed, I tried to connect it to my old sky receiver . It worke fine with the free channels for 10 minutes or so then it stopped working completly, still give me the name of the channels the programme but no broadcast.
NB my sky box has not been used since years, does the viewing card expire? if so why it worked initially then stopped, it is not connected to any phone line.
Thanks all

If you cancelled your Sky sub years ago, then it is likely that your card has been superseded. Sky used to swap cards regularly in an attempt to counter piracy.
Card activation/deactivation is done via the satellite, not the phone line so I suspect that your card had a few minutes grace before it was given the big 'E'.
Bit puzzled why you cannot receive the Free-to-Air channels though - I didn't think a viewing card was needed for those???

Thank you for replying
I was only after the free to view channels.
It is strange, as it still ask me for the viewing card when I remove even there is no broadcastBe ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
You are aware that FTA and FTV are different things?
This link might help with what should/should not be viewable.

That link doesn't seem relevant at all ;D
Anyway FTV are ITV1,ITV2,CH4,five (need a viewing card but not subscription - cards obtained here: https://www.freesatfromsky.com )
FTA are all BBC, S4C, Motors TV, ChartShow.tv, The Vault and (if it still is) ITV3 plus many more.
