cook in oven until can poke easily with fork.
    Done.

I think it's Jamie Oliver who says you shouldn't 'poke' them-I never do unless microwaving which is wrong on every level anyway...

I dont like em microwaved either. Nice n crispy done in t'oven then butter in the skins......yummm

Shall I start at the doc, and go for an xray if needed

If I do it that way, I can get some strong allergy tabs while I'm there ehh :D

Get down the docs spud, I had an x-ray on my hip last month, no clothing removal required, no problems showed up on the x-ray either  hip hurts when I walk - great !, now on one anti-inflamatory twice a day, which seem to be doing the trick ;)

At the risk of sounding obtuse, my oven only has 1 temperature-gas mark 9 which I think is actually really a gas mark 2. Most appalling oven in the WORLD. Utter shoite.

So, it all goes in on GM9 and stays there until done. An average chicken takes about 2 days-I start the Xmas turkey on hallowe'en.

Does it just not heat up, or does it lose too much heat?

You can get new door seals IIRC.
