I'm currently wading through a 45 page government document about the duty of local authorities to provide advice and guidance on the availability of childcare and childcare related services......

do they really need 45 pages for that:confused:

I have to say, it is quite repetitive.......but because it is so repetitive, I am getting the hang of what it's all about. I then have to do my presentation on developing this 'duty' to provide information.

I guess it is about the department gathering all the information from childminders, schools, nurseries etc and then ensuring they push it out to all parents so every mum and dad know what choices are out there, whatever the childcare needs of their child are.

I shouldn't be saying this, but I'm quite liking the work it covers.....it gives me that spark of excitement about learning a new field of work, and it is the first time I have thought - I would leave where I am for this job.

aha - yep - that's exactly the kind of thing Maz :D

The job is managing this service really, making sure the information is available and ensuring everyone knows what choices are available.

    The one > http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/everychildmatters/ete/schools/extendedschools/extendedschools/ ?

Read that last year, it's interesting. So you're developing new services or maintaining current ones?
