Sony Wega TV keeps switching channels all by itself!

Hopefully someone can help me with this as it is driving me mad....
I bought a second hand Sony wega (KV-28HX15U) a few months ago & it was working fine. It has now started changing channels all by itself from whatever channel I'm watching over to AV 1 channel - initially it would do it 2-3 times in an evening, but it is getting more frequent & a few nights ago would swap every few seconds, so it is now unwatchable.
I don't have the remote (so its linked up to a DVD recorder that has a remote which works fine when the TV is behaving itself) or I can use the buttons on the side of the TV to change it back to AV 2 (DVD) or whichever channel I need when it is not behaving.
I've tried it with a freeview box instead of the DVD recorder, but it still switches channel. I've swapped the scart leads around - still switches. I've put tape over the sensor on the front of the TV in case something in the room was setting it off (clutching at straws here) - still switches.
Anyone have any ideas please? This is the 3rd TV I've had in 2 years - the first was old & just stopped powering up so didn't think anything of it. The 2nd was an old portable which would develop an odd noise at certain times & make the sound too bad to watch.
My mate reckons it is me, but he fails to explain how I can affect such things! Although the TV in our holiday chalet also decided to keep turning itself off after I'd been there for 2 days....

& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

I have a sony grand WEGA KF42SX200 (rear projection) tv.
I know with that tv it starts "flipping" channels when the batteries in the remote start to get flat - could it be that (it may be that they are flat enough to cause this but not to affect the functioning of the Dvd player.
Have you tried googling the make of TV along with the problem - thats how I usually "troubleshoot" electrical stuff - coz my hubby is a technophobe:rotfl::rotfl:If it weren't for stress I'd have no energy at all. First rule of acting: Whatever happens, look as if it were intended.;)
Don't follow in my footsteps, I walk into walls:smileyhea When in doubt .............mumble.
I may look busy, but I'm just confused.:T I smile because i have no idea what's going on.:rotfl:0 -
Could be lose connections.
Sony TV's auto detect new signals and automatically switch to that channel.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
