I wouldnt imagine so - especially if you are entitled to Income Related ESA.

It might do, it depends on whether your benefits exceed the weekly allowance. If it is just you as a single person then it may not, it depends on how much your rent and council tax is.

If your weekly benefits exceed this amount then you have to pay a percentage of your council tax.

we have just exceeded the amount because of an increase in our child tax credit and ESA, your council should have a benefit calculator which will show if you exceed the weekly amount or not.

    hope that helps

    Hi there

In HB and CTB, when you are awarded the component, your applicable amount (the amount the council say you need to live on) also increases so you don't lose out.
I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.

I second this. I've yet to see it happen in practice though!

They should get notification, and they should also be checking your claim periodically with the DWP from the end of assessment phase onwards to see if you get further components or ESA is withdrawn. A phone call to advise them can't hurt though, it will just prompt them to check with the DWP - at least then you have peace of mind that you've done your bit!
